Obama breaks twitter record with Charlottesville tweet

INTERNET (RECENT-AUGUST 12, 2017) (SOCIAL MEDIA) – A tweet by former President Barack Obama soon after the outbreak of violence at nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday (August 12) garnered 2.8 million “likes” to become the most liked Twitter message ever by Tuesday (August 15), the social media network said.

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion…,” Obama tweeted, quoting South Africa’s anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela.

A picture of himself looking through an open window at a group of children accompanied his tweet.
