Trump declares a day of prayer for victims of Texas storm

WASHINGTON, D.C., UNITED STATES (SEPTEMBER 1, 2017) (RESTRICTED POOL) – U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday (September 1) declared a national day of prayer to be observed this Sunday in memory of those who died or suffered losses by the storm in Texas.

Trump signed the declaration in the Oval Office, surrounded by several evangelical and Christian pastors. Dr. Robert Jeffress, a Southern Baptist pastor who leads a televised ministry in Dallas and who serves as an informal advisor to Trump on faith-based issues, led Trump in prayer.

“This country has been bitterly divided for decades upon decades and now you have given us a gift: President Donald Trump, who wants to bring healing to this country and he is bringing healing to this country,” Jeffress said.
