Israel celebrates its 69th Independence Day

JERUSALEM (MAY 2, 2017) (POOL) – Israel on Tuesday (May 2) celebrated its 69th Independence Day anniversary.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli President Reuven Rivlin attended a ceremony for the anniversary at the president’s office in Jerusalem.

A number of musicians performed during the ceremony which was attended by numerous Israeli officials.

Israelis gathered in parks around the city to watch a show by air force jets that flew over the Knesset.

Chelsea’s Kante named PFA player of the year

Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante is named player of the year by the Professional Footballers’ Association while Dele Alli receives the young player accolade and David Beckham’s career is acknowledged with the PFA Merit award. Lucy Bronze is named the women’s player of the year and Jess Carter gets the women’s young player of the year award while Kelly Smith receives the PFA Special Achievement Award.
