Former England captain Wayne Rooney charged with drink-driving offence

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (MAY 10, 2017) (REUTERS) – Former England captain Wayne Rooney has been charged with a drink-driving offence, Cheshire police said in a statement on Friday (September 1).

Rooney has been released on bail and is due to appear at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on September 18.

The Everton forward has been charged with driving while over the prescribed alcohol limit after he was arrested at 0200 local time (0100 GMT) on Friday in Wilmslow.
