LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, UNITED STATES (MAY 5, 2014) (SHOWTIME) – With Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya now both in Las Vegas, anticipation is growing ahead of their big fight at the weekend.
It pits two of boxing’s biggest names together – and two of the fight game’s most impressive CVs
Mayweather has won all 47 of his fights so far and will put his undefeated record on the line against Manny Pacquiao who has 57 wins, five defeats and two draws in a total of 64 fights.
Mayweather’s unbeaten run includes two wins against Argentina Marcos Maidana – the first by majority decision in May 2014, the second unanimously on points last time out.
Saul Alvarez of Mexico is another Latin American boxer beaten by the American boxer, in September 2013.
Pacquiao, who will challenge Mayweather at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, does not have the same unbeaten record but has fought 17 more bouts than his rival.
The Filipino defeated Mexicans Antonio Margarito in November 2010 and Juan Manuel Marquez in December 2012.
American Oscar de La Hoya suffered a retirement defeat to Pacquiao back in 2008 and Briton Ricky Hatton is another big opponent floored by Pacquiao’s power.
Pacquiao has also beaten American boxers Brandon Rios, Timothy Bradley and Chris Algieri in recent years – Algieri his last fight, in November 2014.
