LONDON, ENGLAND, UK (JULY 23, 2017) (BBC) – President of the IAAF and former athlete, Sebastian Coe, told BBC presenter Andrew Marr on Sunday (July 23) that he cannot guarantee that next month’s World athletics championships will be a drug-free games.

Russia’s national athletics federation (RUSAF) remains suspended for the championships, which will be held in London between August 5 and 13, as a result of widespread and systematic doping. It means that the majority of the country’s athletes will not feature in any events.

Russian athletes can, however, apply to compete as neutrals provided they meet stringent criteria.
