The 44th Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, ‘Where Dreams Take Flight,’ colors the early morning sky of New Mexico
ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO, USA (OCTOBER 3, 2015) (NBC) – Some 550 hot air balloons took part in the annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, in New Mexico on Saturday (October 3).
Pilots of the participating balloons fly in from over 22 countries, the organizers said. This year features more than 100 special shape balloons.
Titled, ‘Where Dreams Take Flight,’ as chosen by a popular vote, the early morning mass ascensions that takes place on weekends and mid-week is traditionally the most popular event of the Balloon Fiesta.
The launch took place over the Balloon Fiesta Park, where hundreds inflated their different shaped balloons and ascended into the sky.
Other events planned for the week long fiesta include, a flying competition and a glowing in the evening balloons event.
