MORADABAD, UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA (MAY 05, 2015) (ANI) – In an incident highlighting apathy of law enforcement, police officials in India’s northern Uttar Pradesh state on Tuesday (May 05) were caught taking nap on hospital beds while the patients were forced to sleep on the floor

The police officials were guarding a mentally-unstable patient in a hospital in Moradabad district when they were caught snoozing on beds allotted to the patients.

Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Veer Singh, said the police personnel who accompanied the women slept on her bed.

“A mentally unstable woman was referred here for her treatment by a senior doctor. After the checkup the patient stayed overnight in the emergency ward, even though she was instructed a second reference. Late at night we got information that police who came with her slept on her bed and forced other patients to sleep on the floor too,” said Singh.

Singh added that hospital would send a detailed report to senior police authorities.
