First look at Steve Jobs biopic released

Universal releases a teaser trailer for the upcoming biopic, “Steve Jobs,” starring Michael Fassbender in the title role of the late tech titan.

(UNIVERSAL PICTURES) – A teaser trailer for the biopic “Steve Jobs” was released by Universal Pictures Sunday (May 17), giving the world a brief glimpse into the transformation of actor Michael Fassbender, who stars as the late founder and CEO of Apple computers.

The short trailer, roughly a minute long, features audio from the film with the silhouette of Fassbender as Jobs, standing on a stage in front of an empty auditorium. The actor is then seen head on, adorned in Jobs’ signature black turtleneck and rimless glasses. Also seen are actors Seth Rogen, who plays Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Kate Winslet, who plays original Macintosh team member Joanna Hoffman, and Jeff Daniels, who appears as John Sculley, the CEO of Apple from 1983 to 1993.

The film is based off Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography of the enigmatic co-founder of Apple, maker of iPods, iPhones and iPads, and is directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle. The adapted screenplay is by Aaron Sorkin, who won an Academy Award for “The Social Network” (2010), another film about the founding of a Silicon Valley tech giant, Facebook. The film is the second feature film about Jobs to be released since his death, with the poorly reviewed film “Jobs” starring Ashton Kutcher in the title role released in 2013.

Jobs was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer in 2003 and underwent surgery the following year. The tumor returned and he had a liver transplant in 2009. He died in October 2011.

“Steve Jobs” will be released in October.
