Large, diamond statement jewelry expected to steal the show on the Oscars red carpet.
BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES (FEBRUARY 20, 2015) (REUTERS) – It’s the fashion event of the year: the Oscar red carpet. The time when celebrities pull out all the stops, hitting their marks in high end couture and million dollar jewels. This Sunday’s (February 22) event promises to be as glamorous as always with actresses expected to show off their style and bring statement jewelry to the spotlight.
Linda Buckley, vice president of public relations at Tiffany & Co., explains why statement jewelry might rule the carpet.
“I think if the trends follow as what we’ve been seeing this season, actresses will likely tend to choose one piece to really make a statement and I think partly to keep that fresh and to keep that trend reinventing itself and new, we’re thinking that for Oscars we’ll see a strong, big, bold necklace,” said Buckley.
Buckley explained why necklaces make the perfect piece of statement jewelry.
“I think the bigger necklace is an important way to make a statement. They’re very fashion forward. They’re a way to make a style and add a pop of glamour to a dress. It’s a very easy way to do it with one amazing piece. And it’s a way that a woman can really convey her sense of style. There’s a playfulness and a sportiness to some necklaces or you can go very classic and very traditional but it gives a great way to show a little bit of you’re personality and a little bit of what you’re trying to make from a fashion point of view,” said Buckley.
Not only does she expect to see big necklaces but she predicts most celebrities will opt for classic diamond jewelry.
“I think likely it will be the year of diamond. You know, diamonds are so special and unique. Whether or not it’s a white diamond or a yellow diamond, we’re seeing a bit more in pink diamonds and colored diamonds. But that bit that you can really have an important diamond piece to really dress up, women always feel more beautiful when they’re wearing diamonds,” said Buckley.
The 87th annual Academy Awards will be handed out in a live telecast ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday February 22.
