White House locked down after person jumps barrier – Secret Service

WASHINGTON, D.C, , UNITED STATES (MAY 16, 2017) (NBC) – The U.S. Secret Service said late on Tuesday (May 16) that it had lifted a security lockdown put into effect at the White House after a person tried to jump over a bike rack used as a barrier along the north fence of the mansion where President Donald Trump lives and works.

The suspect was in custody, the security office also said on Twitter.

Security had been tight for Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan’s visit earlier in the day, as protesters gathered in front of the White House. Erdogan left before the lockdown.

Trump revealed intelligence secrets to Russians in Oval Office meeting – Washington Post

WASHINGTON, D.C., UNITED STATES (MAY 10, 2017) (RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY) – U.S. President Donald Trump did not discuss “sources, methods or military operations” in his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Monday( mAY 15), after reports that Trump disclosed classified information.

“During President Trump’s meeting with Foreign Minister Lavrov, a broad range of subjects were discussed among which were common efforts and threats regarding counter-terrorism. During that exchange the nature of specific threats were discussed, but they did not discuss sources, methods or military operations,” Tillerson said in a statement.

Trump says ‘his decision’ to fire FBI chief, calls him ‘showboat’ – NBC interview

WASHINGTON DC, UNITED STATES (MAY 11, 2017) (NBC NEWS) – President Donald Trump on Thursday (May 11) called James Comey, the FBI chief he fired, a “showboat” and “grandstander” and said in a NBC-TV interview he would have dismissed him even if officials at the Justice Department had not recommended it.

“He’s a showboat. He’s a grandstander. The FBI has been in turmoil,” Trump told NBC in his first interview since his abrupt firing on Tuesday of Comey, who was leading an investigation into possible Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and possible collusion between Trump campaign officials and Moscow.

“I was going to fire Comey. My decision,” Trump said. “I was going to fire regardless of recommendation.”
